Each Swimtastic course term consists of a number of small group sessions. The numbers per group and the number of sessions can vary from course to course but class groups are generally less than 10 with a course term being 7 to 9 sessions.
The cost of a full term depends on location and ranges from €130 to €150. Please see individual course and locations for specific costs
Credits or refunds are not available for missed classes. We find that catch-up lessons are the best solution. That way, you and your child don’t miss out. Consistency is important for children learning to swim. Our no-refunds/credits policy encourages parents to bring their children to lessons each week.
Please contact Swimtastic if you need to arrange a catch-up class.
At Swimtastic, one of our main goals is to nurture water confidence. This is achieved through listening to individual needs while ensuring that the experience is fun and positive.
Submersion (going underwater) is an important part of learning how to swim. But we NEVER force submersions. It is crucial for to us to improve confidence with learning signals and taking small steps. We will only ever ask for submerssions when learners are ready.
We never submerge a baby who is unhappy. Instead, we offer an alternative until they are relaxed enough to take that next big step.
Submersion is introduced during our early baby courses. Babies love moving through the water in this gravity free environment. They find this hugely freeing. We make sure that both babies and parents/carers are completely at ease in the swimming pool environment before introducing submersion. The exercises are very gentle. Our instructors advise and guide parents in the submersion techniques and exercises.
For Parent and Baby courses we ask that non-participating parents stay in the public observation area for the duration of the programme. Space around the pool edge is limited and other users need to be able to move freely and safely around the pool during lessons.
Children also engage better with the course if they aren’t distracted by parents in the pool area. If your child is anxious, we ask you to be patient and let us work our magic. It can take time to develop a trusting relationship between child and instructor, but we’ve yet to meet a kid we couldn’t win over.
For Adult Learners, and Aqua Yoga courses we ask there are no poolside visitors.
Photography of children in public is a very delicate matter. Please follow each pool’s rules and policy. Due to Child Protection Policy you are NOT allowed to take pictures before, after or during classes.
Please respect the privacy of others. At the end of each term, and where possible as determined by individual pool policies, we endeavour to facilitate parents by taking group and individual photos. This depends on parental consent and permission from the pool management team. Time restrictions and schedules may also impact the opportunity to arrange photographs.
As a rule, without explicit consent and arranged times, photography during Swimtastic pool sessions is not allowed.
All you need to bring is swimwear for you and your child, towels and toiletries. Use standard baby swimwear either bought locally or online, and swim nappies which are available in most supermarkets also. Adults need also to wear swim hats.
Technically, you can join at any stage of pregnancy and continue right up to term. Generally, we advise ladies to wait until after week 12, and we advise people to please check with their GP if there are any conditions they are worried about before going to the swimming pool.
