There are six Swimtastic course levels. They begin at entry level 1 – “Water Confidence” for those that have a fear or nervousness around water, and they graduate up through 2-3-4-5 and 6, all the way to complete proficiency. You can join at any level depending on your current skills and ability. And don’t worry if you aren’t sure about your level, after your first week – in consultation with you, we can move you up or down a level to a course that suits you.

Where to Begin

Read through the levels below and choose the stage that you believe best suits. Don’t worry if you get it wrong, you can either call us and we’ll guide you.

How Stages Work

Each stage is designed to suit where you might be right now, and to enable you to gradually and comfortably progress step by step. There is a follow-on stage for each level so that swimmers can continue to learn and improve.

Courses begin at entry level for Water Confidence, then move up to level 1 and go up to level 5. After this, some swimmers progress to advanced and long-distance swim courses.  If long distance swimming is what you are looking for, then visit our Lap and Lane Swimming courses

Questions we get asked a lot…

I’m not sure which level I am at?

Don’t worry. Give us a call or an email and we can advise you. And in any case, even if you book into a level that doesn’t suit you, we can move you into a level that you will feel comfortable at.

What happens if I don’t take to it or if I can’t learn?

Don’t worry. Everybody can be taught to swim with a little care, nurturing, patience and reassurance. It is important to never hurry beyond your comfort zone. We all progress at our own rate. The key is to remain relaxed and have fun.

What happens if I’m going to miss a class?

If you miss a class, please check with your teacher by email to see if there is space in an alternative class on an alternative day that you could attend to make up for the one you missed. We want you to get the full value of your booking but please note, credits or refunds are not possible for missed classes. This is because all the costs associated with running a course need to be met regardless of whether people make all their booked classes or not.

I’ve really nervous – will this work for me?

Our teachers are very experienced with working with people that are nervous or apprehensive. We’ve helped hundreds of people get over their nerves. So, relax and enjoy what will be a rewarding experience.

What are the pool, parking and changing facilities?

Each of our facilities have free parking. For full details on the pool and changing facilities at your location please click here.

What do our customers say?

I couldn't recommend Swimtastic highly enough for the adult learner classes. I started off a nervous and complete beginner and somehow Zuzana and Elaine managed to teach me so well - with patience and support. I now have confidence in the water that I never thought I could have. Classes are fun and relaxed and I'm looking forward to the next term already.
Deirdre McCarthy – Rathvilly, Carlow.
At the outset, I could swim but I struggled with my breathing and various strokes. I enjoy swimming every week, so I wanted to improve so that I could get more out of my visits to the pool. My teacher was Elaine and she was great. My swimming technique has improved a lot. I can now breath very well when swimming multiple strokes, and I’ve met some lovely people during the courses.
